Screen Print Series

This series of prints combines drawn images from when my son, Miles, was very young. I've always obsessed over his untainted forms, free of over-thinking and completely free expression. I scanned some of my favorite of his images, manipulated them in Photoshop (keeping them as true to the original as possible) then combining them with scenes or other imagery based on my own interpretation. All of Miles' drawings are in color while my addition is in grey-scale.

The first print is a landscape of Joshua Tree National Park. The trees, drawn by Miles, always reminded me of Joshua trees which inspired me to place them in a realistic landscape.

The second print is completely abstract. For the colored squares I played with scale and layering. I added text to all the prints in some form for texture.

The last print shows Miles' "superheros" which I placed inside stacked TV's. This shows the source of many kids imaginations as coming from devices such as television.

Process

Below shows a few of Miles' original drawings of which I worked with for the screen print series.
